Exciting Project Architect role at a hospitality design firm in London

We’re looking for a Chartered Project Architect who is responsible to the Project Manager and Project Designer for project performance and team communications. The Project Architect oversees project deliverables, ensures the technical accuracy of documents, implements feedback, conducts QA reviews, and coordinates with various disciplines, including consultants. They direct the work assignments of a diverse project team and liaise with clients, consultants, and contractors.

Project Architect Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the overall design intent of the project established by the Project Designer is incorporated into detailed project documentation
  • Monitoring the design process from the conceptual phase through construction administration, ensuring consistency and proper execution of design ideas
  • Managing the technical resolution and coordination of a defined portion of a project or projects, including drawings and specifications coordination
  • Reviewing completed reports, plans, estimates, and calculations for accuracy
  • Coordinating and tracking shared electronic documentation and files with the project team, clients, and consultants
  • Preparing reports and documentation for consultants and vendors to issue changes and track resolutions
  • Recording meeting minutes of consultant coordination meetings
  • Managing project documents and identifying the sheets planned for each stage of the work, including defining how data will be organised into files and which elements will be incorporated into a Building Information Model (BIM)
  • Maintaining a collaborative professional working relationship with the project team
  • Coordinating communication with other disciplines, vendors, and contractors to ensure incorporation of all information into project requirements, providing support when necessary
  • Managing construction detail documentation to conform to quality assurance, quality control, and best practice standards
  • Supervising the preparation of technical drawings by other less senior-level architects or team members
  • Leading certain projects as a team leader
  • Mentoring and directing the work of team members, reviewing their work, and providing development opportunities
  • Incorporating Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects
  • Promoting a green workplace through sustainable work practices

Project Architect Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture
  • Chartered status required
  • Environmental accreditation preferred
  • Over 10 years of experience designing small to mid-size architectural projects, including urban and resort hotels
  • Proficiency in technical skills, including AutoCAD, Revit, and 3D modelling software, such as Rhino and SketchUp
  • Sketching skills required
  • Knowledge of architectural building systems, integrated design, trends, construction methodology, QA/QC process, CA process, building codes, and the ability to research and apply to technical documents
  • Experience in client management, project management, and negotiations
  • Effective project management skills, keeping within established deadlines and budgets
  • Ability to work in a team environment and supervise others
  • Ability to meet deadlines effectively
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Travel may be required
